So over the last few months I’ve been working as a costume assistant for London 2012 Ceremonies department. It’s been really exciting, and really boring, and really pressured and really chilled!! Working on such a huge production is never the same day to day, and finally working at the actual Closing Ceremony is one of those moments you’ll never forget.
I mainly worked on Opening Ceremony costume before the games began, so being at the Closing Ceremony it was good to see some of the things I hadn’t before. I was stationed in the Male Marshalls dressing room - the lightbulb hat guys! Most of them were wonderful, some of the “adults” were a bit childlike in their ability to loose everything and then blame someone else, but hey ho thats what you get :) The younger ones (i say younger, but like 18-25) were all darlings, I don’t think they wanted to look like idiots in front of the staff who were mainly 20-something girls. It’s very hard to be cool when you’re wearing stripey socks, garters and cropped trousers. All in all the show was fab, and all the Marshalls were brill!!!
